Mac Geek 4 Hire Services

friendly affordable macOS, iOS and iPadOS support

Some Frequently Asked Questions

Can you replace my broken screen or damaged logic board?

Unfortunately I can't provide those services. I don't have access to the official Apple parts required.

Do you sell new or used Macs?

No, I provide technical support for your Mac, iPad or iPhone, primarily software support, but also minor hardware support such as RAM upgrades and hard drive replacements. I can help you find what you're looking for though.

Do you provide in-home tutoring?

Yes, this is one of my favourite things to do.

Should I update my Mac to the latest supported version of macOS?

That depends on a few variables. Does your Mac have an old school rotational hard drive or a newer SSD? Do you have older software (perhaps 32-bit) that you don't want to or can't afford to update? Do you have enough RAM or storage space for the newer macOS version? Is the latest supported version for your Mac still available on the App Store? I can help you decide and/or do the update for you. I keep copies of all the major versions of macOS installers for off-line installation.

What methods of payment do you accept for Onsite and Remote Support?

You can pay your invoice by cheque. Cheques should be made out to Mac Geek 4 Hire Services and mailed to 1007 Caledonia Avenue, Suite 105, Victoria BC V8T 1E7

You can pay your invoice by logging in to online banking at your participating Canadian financial institution and initiating an Interac e-Transfer. Money is transferred directly between financial institutions - without sharing any financial information. The payment email address is interac@macgeek4hire.com, the security question should be "What is my invoice number?", and the answer should be your invoice number exactly as it appears (case-sensitive) at the top of your invoice.

For onsite services, in addition to the options previously mentioned you can pay by debit using a Square reader linked to my iPhone.
